Our Story

Ten years ago, we started wanting to reach out to the kids in our neighborhood, so we began offering meals, Bible lessons, songs, and games on Sunday nights. At this time, we had 4 daughters ages 12, 11, 2, and 4 months old. Before long, we felt worn out from trying to go to our "normal church" and do our mission work. We had a hard choice to make, but we knew God was calling us away from the comfort of nurseries, youth groups, and lots of friends. We chose to do our ministry every Sunday at 11 am and then serve lunch. The mission for kids became called Kids Club until we had adults coming too, and we changed the name to Hope to Others or H2O. During these ten years, we have moved from building to building and have been renting a wonderful building with a gym for about four years now. Recently, our ministry was given a church. It is a smaller building than we now have, but we feel God pulling us in that direction. We still work as volunteers at our mission, so all money that comes in either pays bills or goes out to help people. We love what we do, but sometimes the pressure of running a ministry takes its toll.

During this whole time, we have been homeschooling our girls, and in 2014, my older daughter helped me created this blog. I was not able to make time to do the blog for long and it was swept under the rug. This year, in 2020, I have been wanting to chronicle our journey and let my two youngest daughters talk about their homeschool and mission experiences in their own words. I hope this blog blesses people and helps them see that even disorganized, imperfect people "can do small things with great love"(Mother Theresa).
